Get to know Carol!

Carol has worked in public libraries throughout the Illinois Heartland Library District since 1993. She started at the Daugherty Public Library District in 2003 as the library director. She was a preschool teacher for ten years and a substitute teacher for ten years before that. She earned her degree in Elementary/Early Childhood education in 1981. Her hobbies and interests include all kinds of arts and crafts, riding her bicycle, traveling, and spending time with her two daughters and two granddaughters. Carol thinks she has the "best job in the whole wide world because she gets to be with books and kids on most days." Serving the community and giving patrons what they want and need is a rewarding opportunity.

Joe

Cataloger

Get to know Joe!

Joe has been working at the library since July of 2010 and has been the cataloger since 2014. His favorite book genres are young adult and mystery. When he's not working, he's watching the St Louis Blues or Cardinals games, playing video games, or traveling. His favorite food is Mexican. His favorite color is blue. Lastly his books recommendation is Looking for Alaska by John Green, though any of John Green's books would be a great choice

Nancy

Get to know Nancy!

Nancy has been working at the Daugherty Public Library since February of 2017. Her favorite books are fantasy and historical romance with happy endings. She likes to read, but more often listens to audio books. She makes things out of clay, hikes, walks her dogs, plants flowers and vegetables, and cooks. Her favorite foods are usually the ones she makes herself from home grown ingredients, but for dinner out she prefers Indian food. Lastly her favorite series of books is by Patricia Briggs

Nicole

Get to know Nicole!

Nicole is the newest member of the Daugherty Public Library staff. She started in February 2022. She graduated from Dupo High School and attended SIUE. Nicole has worked in both the private and public sectors. She is very active in her church and cares deeply about uplifting and motivating others. Her favorite color is purple; her favorite food is Chinese, and her favorite TV shows are Judge Judy and Dateline. She is a big sports fan; football is her favorite. She enjoys audiobooks of all kinds.

Ashley

Ashley has been working with the library since August. A Dupo resident for more than 20 years, she loves planning community events and programs for the library that get everyone in town involved. She spends her free time reading psychological thrillers, camping with family, and playing board games with her children and partner. She also enjoys a multitude of crafts, shopping online, puzzles, terrible Christmas movies, and cozy socks.

Sue has been working at the library since January 2021. Her favorite genres are Mystery/Adventure and romance. When she's not reading, you can find her walking her dogs and going out to listen to music. If she could make one wish, it would be to have good health. Her favorite food is Italian. Lastly her book recommendation is Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate

Get to know Maggie!

aggie - started in the Fall of 2024. Ever since I was in the workforce, I have wanted to work at the library when I retire! I have been retired from the St Clair County Health Department for two years. I worked at the Health Department for 35 years. I am a migrant to Dupo and have only lived here since 2017. My favorite authors are James Patterson and Nora Roberts. I also like to read Danielle Steele. I enjoy meeting people, helping them, and living my dream of working at the library. I love to read!

Crystal

Get to know Crystal!

Crystal has been working at the library since October of 2024 as a library circulation desk staff. She has been working at Columbia Library since 2017. Currently, she is helping with collection management by weeding out books from the collection that have not moved in many years. She loves reading and listening to audiobooks in genres such as non-fiction, historical fiction, psychological thrillers, and occasionally period romances. A great book recommendation would be 'The Measure' by Nikki Erlick.
